eLearning for Current Students

Overview

UTD’s online students have access to the same resources as on-campus students. In this section, you will find important information on technical requirements, online services, and links to course resources.

Instructors may post course materials via eLearning, an online course management system.

  • Students can access online course content in eLearning by logging in using their NetID and password.
  • Students can activate their NetID and password or address password issues by visiting the UTD NetID website.
  • Student can check whether their browser supports eLearning by using the Browser Checker.

You can view online course offerings and access existing course syllabi using UTD’s CourseBook search tool. (If a current syllabus is not available, please contact the professor.) Most online courses at UTD have a section number as 0W1, and most hybrid courses have a section number as 0H1. If a course has more than one section, the section number will increment accordingly i.e., 0W2 or 0H2, etc.

Online courses will become available in eLearning on the first day of the semester. Please Note: If your class is a 2nd eight-week or 2nd five-week course, the class will become available on the first day of that term. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for these dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out what my NetID or NetID password is?

To access your NetID or update your NetID password, visit http://netid.utdallas.edu. If you have any problems, contact the Helpdesk at 972-883-2911 or assist@utdallas.edu. For more information on your NetID, please visit the UT Dallas NetID FAQ.

My browser cannot access the eLearning server.

Please view the Technical Requirements section of the Getting Started page.

I log into the eLearning server, but one of my courses is missing.

Registering prior to the first day of a new semester: Courses will be made available to students to access at the start of the new semester. Students should automatically be added to courses in eLearning within 24hrs of your enrolling in the course. If for some reason the course does not appear after 24hrs, please email elearning@utdallas.edu and include the information listed below.

  • Your name
  • Your NetID
  • The course/section number of the course you do not see in your course list.

I see a course listed in eLearning that I am no longer (or never have been) registered for.

Courses should automatically be removed from your eLearning course list within 24 hours of your unenrolling from the course. If for some reason the course remains, please email elearning@utdallas.edu and include the information listed below. We will remove you from the course, notify you, and then look into why the auto-unenroll process is not working.

  • Your name.
  • Your NetID.
  • The course/section number of the course you see in that you are not enrolled in.

I need access to a course from a previous semester.

The instructor for the course for which you need access to must submit the request for you to have access to a course once the semester begins. The instructor will need to send us the following information:

  • Student’s name.
  • Student’s NetID.
  • Course/section number.
  • Length of time student needs access to course.

I can’t see an assignment/test/item. What do I do?

You will need to speak with your instructor regarding where an item can be found and when you are scheduled to access it.

I submitted an assignment, but my professor doesn’t see it.

If you have already spoken to your instructor and have been instructed to contact the eLearning team, you may reach out to us at eLearning@utdallas.edu with the following information:

  1. Your name and NetID.
  2. The name and number of your course.
  3. The name of the assignment/test.
  4. The day/time you submitted the assignment/test.
  5. A relevant submission receipt; this is sent to your UTD email upon successful submission.

Please note that the eLearning team will provide findings to the instructor directly. You will then be advised to speak with them regarding the ticket.

Can you give me another attempt on my exam/change a setting in a course?

The eLearning team does not make changes to courses or course content unless the instructor of record asks us directly.

I started a quiz on eLearning, and now I get an error message!

If you have problems while taking a quiz in eLearning (i.e. your screen freezes up), it is recommended that you restart your browser, then log back into eLearning and re-enter the quiz. If this does not help the problem, restart your computer, then go back into the quiz. If you are still having problems, please contact the UT Dallas 24/7 eLearning Helpdesk. You will need to provide them the following information:

  • Student name.
  • Student NetID.
  • Course/section number in which problem occurred.
  • Quiz/test name.
  • Time in which issue occurred.

Always remember to save your answers as you progress through your quiz. If anything happens and you are not able to get back into your quiz, since you’ve saved your answers, your instructor will be able to see your responses.
