Online Teaching Certification

Overview

This certification program aims to help design, build, and teach online or hybrid/ blended courses at UT Dallas. The program combines pedagogy, academic policy, University practice, and Learning Management System (LMS) functionality to give participants a hands-on perspective of the online teaching environment. The program is online, self-paced, and allows participants to experience the online educational environment as students.

Objectives

  1. Explain the basics of online pedagogy.
  2. Plan an online course and outline an online syllabus.
  3. Identify policies and practices relevant to online courses.
  4. Apply Title 19 framework and University procedures to academic scenarios.
  5. Observe a working model of an online course within eLearning.
  6. Experience the online student’s perspective.
  7. Demonstrate course-building skills within Blackboard Learn.
  8. Create reusable eLearning content.

Who can enroll

The program is open to UT Dallas faculty, teaching assistants, and post-doctoral teaching associates with instructional responsibilities.
